ESDA Board Meeting October 2009 In Attendance: Roger Morris, Jean Klein, Richard Knox, Tom Welch, Ray Cunningham Old Business: Non-paid list for players, Adam Deck from Dead strokes has not paid, need to look at list online for more. 2nd Conways team in C division is no longer. C division teams- when you play “Conway’s Dart Devils 2” this will be a ‘bye’ week for you. New Business: Motion to allow board members to be paid for mileage at the current federal rate (58 cents/mile at this time) passed. Members will have to keep record of their mileage and the mileage is subject to review by the rest of the board. Motion to make board members exempt from player’s fees passed. Board members put in many hours serving the league and the player’s fee is a small amount of compensation for this. Questions arose as to whether or not the board should intervene with trashy or possibly offensive team names. Questions also arose about dart matches becoming more indecent with foul language. We have had some complaints about the language used during matches. The board’s feeling at this time is that freedom of speech stands. We will not police team names at this time. Nor will we sanction foul language used during the matches. We will ask that team captains refer to the “Etiquette and Sportsmanship” flyer in their packet and keep their team within decent boundaries. We understand that sometimes a curse will slip but it shouldn’t be so loud that people at the other end of the bar can hear you. In other words, keep your own behavior under control please. Clarification on the ‘9 dart warm up rule’. This is once everyone is ready to go. If players are outside smoking or at the bar and you are ready and warming up, those warm ups do not count as your nine until everyone is in the dart area ready to play. Clarification on rumor that bars with only one board will be unable to sponsor teams. This is not true. There are several sponsors with only one board and always have been. The only limitation to sponsors with only one board would be the number of teams that could be supported for scheduling reasons. Mid season tournament will be a Turkey Shoot. Looking at the weekend of Nov. 14 and 15th. Jean will contact Mohawk Tavern as a possible location. Richard will design posters for advertising once Jean has details of date and location. Ringer raffle, chalker drawing, cash awards and other prizes will be available. ESDA is adding $400 to the pot (with the sign up fees) for the prize fund. |
